AU Brief

The version of the Pokémon world that Morgan comes from is near identical to that of the games, with additions of manga and anime exclusive locations and a handful of characters. While not gritty or dark, the maturity tone of this AU is on par with that of the Pokémon Adventures Manga Series, roughly that of a "Teen" rating for games; which does mean that there are mature themes such as violence, swearing, and although rarely: deaths. This AU also incorporates 2 fan-regions known as Kelta and Klondi, created by [personal profile] tsundereshadow, as well as 3 others on a continent known as Efisga, created by usagisquared, of which Klondi is connected to both in landmass and lore. Fakémon, and various other fanmade formes are also incorporated into this world.

Both male and female protagonists are around at the same time, being related in some way to one another whether it's brother and sister or cousins, and generally viewed as rivals alongside the canon rivals of the games.

Outside of Alola where children traditionally begin their Island Challenge as young as 11 years old, trainers begin their journeys between the ages 12 - 15. Rare exceptions have been made in cases of 10 year olds beginning their journeys in other regions, and are ALWAYS accompanied by an adult for protection and to teach them survival skills. Sabrina of Kanto is one such exception.

Efisga's system, outside of Klondi, follows a different ruleset. New trainers often do not begin their journeys until age 18. This is due to the fact that the continent is vast, dangerous, and sparsely populated outside of the western region of Klondi thus unable to provide the same protections as a more populated region. The exception to the 18 rules fall under two categories
  • Klondi offers a program for trainers to take on the challenge there, as its League is one half of Efisga's League. This option is comparatively safer than its alternative.
  • A group consisting of a minimum of 4 and are required to have an adult chaperone. The adult must be a minimum of 20yo, have 8 badges, and be established as a trainer. Survival rates typically deter children from selecting this. This rule exception is required even of Klondian children who wish to take the challenge on across the continent.

  • Trainers are allowed to keep up to 9 Pokémon at a time with them, though they’re only ever allowed to battle with a maximum of 6. These extra 3 spots are often used for flight, land, or water travel; and are typically strong Pokémon in their own rights that’ve been trained just as hard as the rest of the team. Although limited to more populated areas, trainers may access their PC Boxes to swap out which 9 they're carrying.

Pokémon aren't limited to 4 moves, instead they may know up to a maximum of 12. Seasoned trainers are encouraged to use only 4 of these in battles to keep an element of fairness in battles against beginner trainers, although not enforced. Trainers generally have a set of 4 "main moves" they train for battles, but are able to swap moves around based on challengers. A list of what every Pokémon knows is required to be reported to Gym Officials before every challenge.

Gym Leaders may be challenged in any order a trainer wishes in the region, with the exception of Galar’s strict circuit order. Trainers are expected to be able to match the tier of Gym Badge they're challenging for, an 8th Badge challenge isn't permitted to challenge a 5th Badge team, although a 5th Badge challenge can have a higher level team be requested, with the Gym Leader confirming it's what the trainer wants. Challengers caught lying and trying to cheat the system will automatically be required to challenge a stronger tier; assuming the Gym Leader didn't expel the arrogant trainer from their Gym outright. Some trainers have been banned from continuing a season after doing this.

Gym Leaders and Challengers alike aren’t permitted to exceed Level 55 with their Pokémon, as it’s a test of strategy & skill, not raw power. 8th level Gym Badge challenges will be a full 6v6 to prepare challengers for what they'll expect in the League Tournament against the strongest trainers that season. Every Gym Leader from Badge 7, some cases 6, onward will possess a Mega on their teams.

Legendary and Mythical Pokémon aren’t one of a kind, nor are they genderless, although they’re rare enough that it appears to be like that. They’re revered as god-like beings, and are more powerful than average Pokémon, with Pseudo-Legendary lines being connected in some way to them although varying degrees of distance in relation. This connection is still unknown to this day by scientists as none can agree on the subject. The one thing they unanimously agree on:
These Pseudos are powerful enough in their own rights to decimate a village when angered.
