All Psychics have all the abilities that encompass what one would imagine a Psychic to be: telepathy, telekinesis, future sight, among a host of others that fall into none of these categories. These standard Psychic abilities were once categorized into multiple abilities, but in recent years were lumped into more broad categories. This was to avoid creating hundreds of categories and avoid redundancies for record-keeping.

Every Psychic will have a specific talent that is stronger than the others, with rare circumstances being equal in up to all four areas. Sabrina Chinen of Saffron City, Caitlin of Unova, and Olympia of Anistar City are among such examples. Contrary to popular belief among the media, not every Psychic type trainer and specialist is a Psychic themselves. More often than not, they're just an average trainer that lean towards training that type. Additionally, not every Psychic will gravitate towards Psychic Pokémon either, in fact a lot of them only have a handful of the type and vary among the other types. However, more famous Psychics do tend to use the type, more for familiarity than not.

Sometimes, other types of "Psychics" are born with different abilities. Unknown to them, they are Psychics themselves, but are generally feared and ostracized for their abilities with very few exceptions; though some people revere these abilities. In rare circumstances, "standard" Psychic abilities can manifest alongside these abilities. Leaf Shimizu of Pallet Town, Morgana Sakurai of Celestic Town, and ??? Of ??? are among such examples with Leaf and Morgana having awoken their "standard" Psychic powers as well.

A ranking system once existed, but due to the complexities of non-standard Psychics awakening to regular psychic powers and distorting these rankings, it was done away with.

Psychic Ability
Details
Clairvoyant Ability to see into the future, often not at will unless one is a powerful Clairvoyant, and even then requiring the aid of Psychic Pokémon for perfect detail. They are often referred to as "Seers" by many. They may additionally possess the ability to see things and events that are happening far away and locate objects, places, and people.
Telekinetic Ability to move things, animate and inanimate alike, with the mind. They can even lift themselves, with enough focus. The more powerful a telekinetic, the heavier the thing that can be lifted.
Telepath Ability to read the minds of others and speak to others through their minds. Extremely powerful telepaths are able to do this over long distances and are often targeted by various villainous teams.
Empath The ability to feel emotions from others, and even in rare cases of powerful empaths, to calm or disrupt other people's emotions.

Power
Details
Healer The ability to heal injuries, usually Pokémon. It is the rarest of all these Psychic abilities. It is also the least feared of all abilities, due to being helpful and not destructive, however it's also incredibly dangerous to the individual to heal others without training. Some Pokémon Nurses have been reported to have this ability.
Aura The user is able to sense auras and manipulate them to create "waves". This ability has been known to be in family lines or connected to ancient "Aura Guardians".
Spirit Seers The ability to not only see and communicate with spirits, but the ability to control them as well. It is tied for the rarest with Healers, but is the most feared due to these people being able to control the dead and Ghost types alike. Many with this ability pass themselves off as Mediums & Channelers to avoid detection. Some rare few have been known to lay curses on their enemies, although this is passed off as their Pokémon doing so.
Dark Psychic Unlike normal Psychics, these people are able to read Dark Types, but are able to pass themselves off as standard Psychics; generally as Telepaths due to this ability being a telepathic one. Generally, Dark Psychics do not possess any clairvoyant or telekinetic abilities if they awaken standard abilities, but this has happened. Dark Psychics have a unique ability in that they are able resist Psychics and especially strong ones can subdue Psychics. Powerful Psychics often have a Dark Psychic by their side on the rare chance they lose control, often by their choosing. Sabrina and Caitlin are two famous examples.
Pyrokinetic The ability to manipulate, manifest, and control fire telekinetically. Generally feared for being destructive due to weaker pyrokinetics being unable to fully control this ability. Many pass themselves off as Firebreathers.
Aquakinetic The same as Pyrokinetic, but water based. Extremely powerful aquakinetics have been reported to manipulate ice and breathe underwater.
Electrokinetic The same as Pyrokinetic, but electricity based. Extremely powerful electrokinetics have been reported to manipulate lightning storms.
Aerokinetic The same as Pyrokinetic, but air/wind based. Extremely powerful aerokinetics have been reported to manipulate the weather across a wide area, although proof has yet to be found and often attributed to Pokémon Abilities such as Drought and Drizzle (it has happened, but records were destroyed).
Terrakinetic The same as Pyrokinetic, but earth based. Extremely powerful terrakinetics have been reported to cause small scale quakes, although these reports do not have adequate proof and is attributed to Pokémon battles.

Some eye colours have been attributed to some of these special psychics:
  • Spirit Seers often sport pale eyes ranging between purple and silver. This eye colour does not guarantee a child will be one, as these colours can occur naturally.
  • Healers will always have a golden ring around their eyes. This does not guarantee a child is a Healer, as some children can have golden inner rings, but every healer will have this ring.
  • Dark Psychics will always sport thin red, blue, or silver inner rings in their eyes. This isn't often noticeable, and unless someone is up close in their face, isn't noticed from afar. Many pass this off as a trick of the light, as it can appear a different colour in some lighting.

Titan Bonding, or just known as The Bond or The Pact, is a pact or bond formed between a godlike or Legendary/Mythical Pokémon and human being which grants the person incredible power –the power of the Pokémon itself– and for these powerful creatures to effectively "possess" those they have made a pact with, as well as a full telepathic connection being established between the two individuals. This telepathic connection doesn't make the trainer a Psychic, as it is exclusively limited to the Pokémon they're Bonded with. There have been some arguments to make Bonding a category of Psychics, as it was considered one in the past, but in present day it is considered too limited to be Psychic along with it not being something one is able to be born as unless the Pokémon itself has done.

The "Bond Price" differs between Pokémon and the one they form the pact with, often being something important as the price of their power; though not always something ruinous or detrimental, some simply test a person's character or wish to satisfy their curiosity and just demand companionship or safety to closer observe humanity under a human's care. Those who are "Bonded" often keep quiet about it, as they would be sought out for nefarious reasons, the telepathic connection being one of these reasons. Very few are trusted with the information of who the "Bonded" are, even among Pokémon League Officials, as this is highly classified information.

'Bonding is incredibly rare and the compatibility must be near enough or perfect compatibility to do this, or else it can cause severe damage and in some cases: death. The Legendaries who bond with the humans can choose to do so of their own will by forming a pact, or by accidental interaction with the unborn or young children, thus creating the bond with the child if the compatibility is enough. The "Bond Price" for those that have this happen accidentally is unknown, though it is rumoured that depending on the Pokémon, no price at all will be required.

If a person is Titan Bound, and legally owns the Pokémon, it is kept separate from the 9 a trainer may carry as a special exemption. Trainers are cautioned not to let it be known that they are Bonded. This Pokéball is programmed not to be sent to a PC. Bonded do not have to take these exams as often, and are instead monitored by the Pokémon League for their safety.

Due to the nature of this unique and unusual gift these Pokémon can grant, the only Pokémon who have ever been able to possess full sapience are these godlike Legendary & Mythical Pokémon.

Failed Bonding often results in Death or severe disabling that may lead to death depending on how angered the Pokémon was. Failed Bonding is often forced upon the trainer by others, although how it's gone about is unknown and condemned by the majority of Aureans as traitors to humanity. The victims of these failed Bondings are taken in and protected by the League and their families should their families not have been involved with the forcible Bonding, allowing them the best comforts for the rest of their lives. To own a Pokémon over the level of 65 requires a license as proof of ability to handle the power of stronger Pokémon, and is required to obtain for every five levels after that. Being licensed to own a Pokémon over the level of 90 is difficult to achieve, not only because most trainers are content to make it to 65 or 70, but the difficulty of the exam of this license. It is possible, however it is just incredibly difficult to do so. Those that own Pokémon over 80 are almost always tied to the Pokémon League in one way or another. Most are generally officials for the League itself.

Additionally, Legendaries and Mythicals require special licenses to prove one is capable of handling and owning them. Similar to the Lv. 70 license exam, regardless of level, separate from the exams for specific levels past Lv. 65. These Pokémon possess godlike power and strength, and trainers with these licenses are closely monitored in the case of needing to step in and prevent catastrophe in the case of something going awry.
